You're looking at this as a cash problem ($2500 per person per year). And right now even Americans are cash poor, thanks to a number of unavoidable pressures like COVID-19 and unemployment.

What if we looked at our situation as a time problem? What if every American gave up one hour of Dancing with the Stars or posting on Facebook in order to tutor an inner city child in math? What about two hours and also help a child in another country or promote a global climate change initiative?

Most of us don't have much disposable income, but we tend to have a wealth of disposable leisure time.

We can watch the planet burn down, or we can start to douse the flames. There is no in-between.
