You and your students have wonderful rapport (unlike Rob and his romantic partners.
I've made the following observations elsewhere, so apologies if they're repeats for you.
1. In her song "I was definitely made for these times," Anika Norlin (Hello Saferide) creates a persona who (unlike Brian Wilson's persona) finds herself quite comfortable in the shallow world of today: "I can make the meanest daiquiri / I can quote all of "High Fidelity." https://youtu.be/RiuIorq1I4I?si=Xlah5LNcz3SikxAK
Unlike Norlin's persona, I liked but didn't love "High Fidelity." My favorite scene featured Rob's co-workers chastising him for storing his lp's horizontally (which damages the grooves). "I know, I know" Rob admits, acknowledging awareness of his self-destructive tendency (evident in his relationships).
2. Here a track you might enjoy--a version of the Ronettes' classic performed by the Madagascar band Tarika. The singer Hanitra opens with the English of the original, then switches to French (the colonial language of Madascar and then concludes with verse and chorus in Malagasy (the indigenous language of the country). Each version conveys a different mood / meaning--a nice example if your class ever discusses the importance of language in music. https://youtu.be/JxIj9viZQCk?si=hGcX8K9pUJXwVrNw
