Even though I was an early Internet adopter eons ago, I've never gotten the hang of Spotify's interface. Right now, I only have the free version, so cancelling my account might actually help them (and I agree with your point about the futility of unsubscribing as a protest as well).

Best strategy I know of is just to speak truth to the lies--it won't convince the dupes, but maybe in the long run, the truth will out.
