Two Lane Blacktop is sadly forgotten these days.

My favorite, though, is a recent Mexican film, Cumbres. (it's a bit hard to find, having been dropped from Amazon Prime). It's a kind of Thelma and Louise with two sisters and without the exaggerated drama of the American film. The conclusion is subtle but devastating.
