Three Longer Minimalist Pieces
More is less is more (Rate a Record Challenge)
Following on the smashing success of “Three Minimalist Pieces,” here are three longer minimalist works — same simple melodic units, just more of them (with their own unique variations as well). Given the additional length here, you might be tempted to put these songs on the background as you wash dishes or whatever, but the cumulative power of these simple works will (in my belief) reward careful, foreground attention. If not, feel free to comment in your evaluation.
As with the first (briefer) version, there is no background info about the artists. What you hear is what you hear.
The criteria: 35–98, as established by Dick Clark and Terry Barr.
World’s End Girlfriend, “Unfinished Finale Shed”
Last Days, “The Whole Town Is Against Us”
Robert Fripp, “A Blessing of Tears”
