This could not have happened in the Georgia capitol building, even though we’re open carry. That’s because the Georgia (Republican-majority) legislature made one absolute exception where licensed holders are under no circumstances allowed to carry a gun: not schools, not hospitals, not daycare centers, not churches, not bars — just the government buildings with metal detectors, which would include the capitol where the legislators work. Our brave lawmakers truly appreciate the CYA principle.
