Gary Chapin has thrown down the gauntlet: “absurd comedy about classical mythology.”

So here is Ed (Fugs) Sanders’ absurdist Homer appreciation (the first line of the song below, in Greek with a Southern drawl):

Simone Weil has argued that the Homeric epic doesn’t glorify violence but undermines that ethos. Ed Sanders just goes one step further.

If you’re offended by the accurate depiction of right-wing racist / xenophobe / homophobic language in this song, may I suggest that you consider relocating to Tuvalu (or wherever).

Marjorie Taylor Greene has not responded to my queries about the limits of violence as a political strategy. But then again, I didn’t ask her, because I think I know what she’d say.
