The three highest rated (by fans and critics) Caravan albums are this year's "If I Could Do It All Over...."; "Land of Gray and Pink"; and "For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night." (The first Caravan album made the top 100 previously.) 83 is respectable; "Land of Gray and Pink" should do better in 1971's list. I was pleased to see Soft Machine "Third" do so well (26)--it's a groundbreaking album--four songs one side each. More surprised to see Nico's "Desert Shore" at 25. It's a masterpiece still yet to be discovered (I prefer the equally under-heard "Marble Index," which came in 23 in 1968--both albums were produced by and owe much to John Cale).

Here's the final cut from Desert Shore: https://youtu.be/vBv4ABDxu6U

We agree again about the worst bad (but I have to say I'm not crazy about "Morrison Hotel").

One of the values of this list is to bring forward musicians who were overlooked in their time and place them in a kind of context by ranking with the "stars" of the past--in this case both Vashti Bunyan and Linda Perhacs have been rediscovered. and the top 100 list should help augment their new-found fame.
