The Taiwanese singer songwriter who went by the name Koumis is finally (a decade after her death) getting triple=digit views on her YouTube videos. When she was alive, she was consigned to performances in food courts and bookstores, until her partnership with Wan Feng near the end of her life, which brought her national--though not international--fame. She still should be better known in the West. (I discovered her before that thanks to a YT suggestion, not any marketing strategy, and became a fan (exchanging a few remarks on her Facebook page). Her covers in English are wonderful and personal, but even though I don't know a word of Mandarin, her other songs are equally compelling for me, e.g.
