The arc in Live Free or Die Hard is also interesting. McClane starts off by spying on his daughter’s boyfriend, but after McClane experiences the tyranny of the hacker Thomas Gabriel (and the bravery of the boyfriend), McClane renounces his interference with his daughter’s love life.
