Songs for Insomniacs 81: Mick Ronson, “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue”

The plethora of Bowie and Mick Ronson articles on Medium got me to return to an old favorite, the title track from Ronson’s “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.” Richard Rodgers’ tune from his 1936 ballet has been a classic ever since, and Ronson both respects and reinvents the song. A brilliant guitarist who didn’t have to play flashy to play well.
