Songs for Insomniacs 80: Soft Machine, “Carol Ann”
The progressive British band Soft Machine anticipated a number of trends, but never really profited from them.
Soft Machine Six contained a prototype of New Age music in 1973 with “Chloe and the Pirates.”
They perfected the sound on the next album Seven with “Carol Ann.”
