So far (the early "Golden Age" and the recent "Inbred"), my journey into the world of Ethel Cain has been one of the most fascinating of my listening career. From Golden Age, I definitely get the Enya parallel you cite, but she also reminds me of the more meditative songs on Nico's "The Marble Index" (like "Julius Caesar"). But Inbred is like nothing else. The remarkable achievement is that she is true to herself.

And, I would add, your description of her music is as pitch perfect as her songs are.

I think I'll have to spend much more time focusing on the lyrics as well as the instrumental virtuosity, but it's not too soon to say that Ethel Cain is a major phenomenon in popular music. To my surprise, there's not a single reference to her on my usual source, AllMusic.

Thank you for this wonderful discovery.
