Re: Soft support. One of the goals of Jared Kushner’s exploitation of CA research (which was amplified by IRA Facebook posts and Twitter tweets) was to discourage progressives and minority voters from going to the polls by promoting the myths that (a) the election was rigged so it didn’t matter if you voted or not, (b) there was no difference between Clinton and Trump, and/or ( c) Clinton was actually worse / more ___ (e.g. more racist) than Trump. Since these voters probably skewed cynical / apolitical / independent to start with, the push by Kushner / the IRA didn’t seem to change their minds, but to confirm their tendency to not vote (many discussions I participated in on FB included arguments by people who refused to vote for the lesser of two evils).
