Please, please, please. Preferably one big mega-article (or book, if necessary). There is (I'm sure you know) a movement to restore credit to Black musicians whose work influenced White country western musicians. There may be a similar trend for the history of rock music, but I don't know of it.
The villain here is clearly the recording industry, which has traditionally exploited anyone they could, but whose dominance was particularly egregious to musicians who lacked clout (and which in America means Black musicians). Blaming Elvis (or even Sam Phillips) is in effect absolving the music industry.
