One thing I've noticed in "real" life: If you watch people at a nearby table in a restaurant whom you can't hear, you will notice that at a table of 3, for example, one person will dominate the conversation, one person may engage with the dominant speaker, and one person will tend to stay out of the fray. In other words, real world conversation is a form of combat not collaboration, and that conflict is even more important in the condensed world of a screenplay.
