Of course, the answer depends on how one defines racism. I'm okay with the simple distinction that racism is characterized by a belief that an individual or group is inferior to others simply because of their race (ethnicity).
If X is a member of group Y, and X believes that individuals or groups within group Y are inferior simply because they belong to that group, then (by my definition), X is a racist, even though X is a member of group Y. (The Dave Chappell skit about Clayton Bigsby comes to mind.)
There are other definitions of racism besides mine, but according to my pov, the two men in question may be indulging both in racism AND in self-hate. The latter distinction would require knowing something about their thought process / background. It's more complex to establish self-hatred than to establish racism (by my definition).
