My uninformed guess is that Amazon gets permission from the original copyright owners, and that this permission would be easy to get since Amazon is selling the work "for" whoever owns the copyright. Otherwise, they'd be an easy target for infringement suits.

BUT Google / YouTube violates all kinds of copyrights with their uploads by third-parties, so who knows?
