When our beloved musicians die, we feel bereft because we know we’ll never hear anything new from them. An archivist may discover some buried treasure, but that’s not the same as a new performance or composition.

The series Musical Obituaries seeks to provide fresh perspectives on those who have passed on — perhaps even to long-time fans. I try to keep the text short so you’ll have more time to explore the music itself.
