More than 80% of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Georgia last month were black, CDC study finds

I live about an hour from Fairburn. Georgia is just as divided along racial lines as it was before the Civil War, with one exception.

If there were some condition decimating over 80% of enslaved Africans before 1860, Georgia plantation owners would have acted more decisively to prevent the illness and deaths than Governor Brian Kemp has in 2020.

And please, spare me that pre-existing nonsense. The relatively poor health of African-Americans has been well-known for over a century now, and we as a state / society have done nothing about it.

We have known since 2011 that our country has not prepared for the racial inequalities of pandemics: The Impact of Disparities in Health on Pandemic Preparedness, and we have done nothing to redress the problem.
