Many years after the fact, I would read glowing references to the Shadows (and a little less often to Hank Marvin). I'd heard a bit of late-era Cliff Richard--who hasn't? But the Shadows never got played here in the states, even in retrospectives.

I'm especially perplexed after watching their 1960 Apache. It's far superior to the 1965 take from David Allan and the Arrows (which isn't at all bad). https://youtu.be/d1ehRPx5h2s

Marvin has a beautiful fluid tone and phrasing, and the band plays well together. Thank you for prompting a decades-late discovery.
