I've always felt that "best of" collections were cheats at best. (Even though the Kinks are my favorite band, I've never owned or listened to any of the numerous "best of" releases. I much prefer their "greatest non-hits" like Kinks Kronikles or Great Lost Kinks Album.) A non-hits album may have a few klunkers (except for the Kinks of course), but the ensemble is always for me a more rewarding experience than someone else's rehashing of the so-called best of a group.
