In my opinion, this is a well-thought-out response. It's unlikely that anyone will be sued by a lyricist (or whoever owns the copyright), but I 'm planning for my quotations to be brief and used only if necessary to illustrate the review's point.

BTW, crediting the writer is especially important in country music, where (until the last few decades) the songwriter was almost never the same person as the singer. As with screenplays, the performer always gets the credit for the hard work that the writer did.
