Imo, the 1980's work of the Kinks has been greatly ignored / dismissed by critics. Something like "Down All the Days" from UK Jive is as power pop as anything else from that era, for example.

The lyrics / theme are more complex than most power pop, but the music fits the genre nicely (as do many other Kinks works from this period).
