I'm working on a detailed article about this. Did you know that the word "racism" occurs only twice in the entire Social Studies curriculum: once in the African American History section and once in World History (in reference to Nazis)?

I think the omission of what happened in Reconstruction is as bad as the omission of the horrors of enslavement, but the guidelines also whitewash current history (no mention of Trayvon Martin, for example, whose murder is a central part of Florida and US history as a catalyst for the Black Lives movement).
