I'm one of those fossils who can tell you where I was when I first saw Mosaic, so I'm not opposed to technological innovation per se, but I do think that Twitter is designed to produce and reward offensive behavior. (So is Facebook, but it's easier to apologize for or qualify a careless remark there.)
Generally, when a good artist acts like a jerk, it diminishes my appreciation for that person's work. (Crosby would probably have to go the Phil Spector / Spade Cooley route to get me to stop listening to "Eight Miles High," and he's only a co-writer anyway.)
But something good came out of the spat. I had been meaning to listen to Phoebe Bridges, and your thoughtful appreciation of her music is motivating me to start sooner rather than later.
