I'm a bit surprised--this song was better than I thought it would be, and better than many of the megahits today. But it's still not very good. The lyrics, intonation, and melody are to regular songs what autotune is to pitch. It the onslaught of AI songs encourages listeners to search out what's unique and inspiring in human music, then more power to IT.
Here are two songs (obliquely inspired by "Betrayed by this Town") that I consider authentic (lots more in my personal playlist of course). Notice how the imperfections and little irregular pauses create human drama.
