I remember liking his character a whole lot, but I had no idea he was so darned ubiquitous. This is a tribute to characte-building and acting.

But for my money (two cents), Sue Ann Nivens, as played by Betty White, is tv's greatest character ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sue_Ann_Nivens ).

The Mary Tyler Moore producers wanted to cast someone with a Betty White persona for the passive aggressive homemaker role, and they approached Betty White, who more than fit the bill. She's the toxic parent that even people who didn't have toxic parents can identify with.
