I once read an essay about sports by an Asian student (Korean or Japanese if I remember correctly) which made the point that the reason Americans were so fond of sports was that they ate so much meat. He wasn’t saying that people ate meat because they liked sports (that their aggressiveness contributed to a carnivorous diet) but the reverse — that a carnivorous diet fuels an attraction to aggression.

It’s no accident that the voices of patriarchy refer to women as livestock.
