I like the openness of Medium. I'd like to be able to channel that openness in the following manner:

I have three important but unrelated interests. It would be helpful if I could establish separate compartments (the equivalent of different drawers in a filing cabinet), rather than having to create separate IDs/ personae, or lumping everything together. Ideally, readers of an article in category X would see other articles I've written in that category, not articles in the other two categories. Better still, when a reader clicks Follow or Subscribe, I'd be able to tell which category that person started from, and subscribers would receive notifications of new publications in the category they preferred. Although this approach would be a kind of Balkanization, I believe it would enhance the value of each article / discussion from the reader's point of view, and thus provide better communication between writer and reader.
