I know the Henry James and of course the Dickens, and I've read one or two of Jackson's novels (but not Hill House) and the story "O Whistle and I'll Come to You My Lad" by M. R. James.

Highly recommended (I think it would fit the genre): Arthur Machen's "The Great God Pan."

"The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and "At the Mountains of Madness" by H. P. Lovecraft might be considered ghost stories.
