I have no idea why success in business is considered an asset for an elected official. Government is a service, not a corporation. The President is an employee of the people, not their employer or manager. I would rather vote for a successful public school teacher or cardiologist or musician than the founder of a highly profitable company. I have nothing against tycoons per se or their wealth. I just think having run a business is the wrong skill set for someone who is charged with guiding a nation.

There’s a reason that elected officials are called “public servants.” Unfortunately, they may not see themselves as servants but as masters, and that’s where bad government starts.
