I hadn't listened to Fountains because of superficial first impressions from descriptions of their music, so I'm glad I read this post and your essay "Go All the Way." It'll take a while to backtrack, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the experience. They're a bit edgier than I had thought from misleading reviews, but I like any good power pop, especially the Rubinoos and the Kinks (whose work from the 80's could be considered power pop and is vastly underrated by most critics).
