I had (and was supremely influenced by) the first two Doors albums. After that, I mostly knew their work from the songs played on AOR radio. Riders on the Storm was probably my favorite. This accounts for my somewhat casual listening to L. A. Woman. Now, on re-auditioning, I'm impressed with the melodic complexity of the structure. Manzarek, Krieger, and Densmore do a fine job of keeping up while Morrison indulges himself. Thank you for this opportunity to rediscover a classic song.

As you know, I'm wont to push a Swede Pop number whenever relevant (or not). Here's Amanda Bergman singing "The End." The video is from a TV show that combines two songs ("Cambodia" in this case) in order to challenge panelists to find a thematic link ("The End" ends around 1:30). I'm blown away by how well a female vocalist--a Swede no less--can replicate Jim Morrison's style.
