I don't think they lack desire to learn. I think they acrtivly desire to deny contradiction (new knowledge always contradicts what we previously knew or thought we knew). There's a great deal of pleasure in defending one's refusal to gain insight from observation. Hershel Walker recently claimed that trans children would not be welcome in heaven because Jesus would not recognize their altered identity (my paraphrase). Apparently Walker's Jesus is as ignorant as he is and just as proud of it.
