I appreciate what you're getting at here (and I'm also ambivalent about Nirvana). I agree with Alexander Briseno about Limp Biskit. I would add Matchbox 20 to the list, and anything by Eric Clapton after Blind Faith / Derek and the Dominos.

On a personal level, I never understood the appeal of Ozric Tentacles, Interpol or Porcupine Tree (but they might not be considered "world-class bands"). Maybe it's just me, though.
