Here's some CW trivia for you: the Kitty Wells classic was written by a man (J. D.Miller), as a response to another CW classic by a man, Hank Thompson's "Wild Side of Life" (written by two men: Arlie Carter and William Warren).
Here's where it gets complicated: Ray Price recorded "Wild Side of Life" on his seminal album "Night LIfe" NOT as a tribute to Hank Thompson but as critique (fully aware of the Kitty Wells version). Ultimately in my view, the Ray Price album is a sort of critique of patriarchy (which I hope to detail at some point in the future).
