Here's another (and equally dispiriting) take: these rallies, protests, petitions, etc. will have no impact on the people whom the GOP have convinced to support laws, rules, etc. that cause harm to the GOP supporters.

There are only two strategies to keep or take control at the polls: (1) Get more of your supporters to the polls; (2) convince the other side to change allegiance. Neither of these goals will be accomplished by signing an online petition etc.
