Here's a bonus for you--the influence of the song WATW itself, referenced in Maia Hirasawa's "Boom" (" 'We Are the World' is not a song I'd like to sing").
"Boom" is sung in English; the singer is Swedish / Japanese. The song came out the same day as the 2011 tsunami in Japan and became a rallying cry for Japanese survival. Hirasawa has released two updated versions recently.
