"Heavy" but I'm afraid not very pleasantly. None of these are my favorites, to say the least.
Joe South: too commercial--not just this but the other hits I'm familiar with. I much prefer Billy Joe Royal. 45
Ann Murray: It's upbeat, but the lyrics indicate that the song should sound wistful, and it doesn't. Maybe I should give her extra points for surviving the cruel Canadian winters, but I absolutely can't stand this song. 35
Credence is okay (and always evocative) but this isn't one of my favorite Credence numbers. Still I wouldn't change the station or hammer my old transistor into bits if it came on the radio. 65
