Dick Clark gave a break to big band saxophonist Larry Elgart and composer / arranger Charles Albertine when he chose their "Bandstand Boogie" as his theme song for 30 years. It may be the song that many boomers have heard more than any other--and it's not even rock and roll (including the Barry Manilow version that American Bandstand used toward the end of its run).
