For modern Americana, I would add Rodney Crowell (especially The Houston Kid) and Rhiannon Giddens (especially Freedom Highway).

Don't know if you'd consider him Americana, but though Gene Clark has never fit any one category, he is in my opinion the most American of all musicians.
