Granted the number of nasty Sanders supporters is a tiny fraction of his base. But the extent of their misogyny and racism doesn’t seem typical of the supporters of other candidates except Trump in any quantity.

I normally look for discriminatory rhetoric in any political post regardless of ideology. The Yang Gang were largely male (probably young and white), and they were as fervent as any Sanders supporters. I didn’t see any irrationally angry posts. No sexism, racism, ageism, etc. Now there could have been some; my experience may have been atypical. But everyone who argued was polite and furnished concrete evidence. Nor did I witness nasty behavior from supporters of Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Warren, et al. The only nasty posts I saw outside the Sanders camp were from male supporters of Clinton in 2016.

Nasty behavior is also rare in real life interactions. But again I have read of violent acts and death threats solely by Sanders and Trump supporters. No brandishing of chairs, no doxxing of union officials' personal information, no veiled threats to state Democratic leaders from anyone except this tiny minority of Sanders supporters.

We could invent a conspiracy that corporatist media only reports negative news about Sanders. But they like sales more than politics. Reporters at the NYT or Fox would sell their grandmother out for a sensational headline.

Maybe my observations are skewed by sampling error. If anyone knows of significantly nasty actions by fans of candidates other than Sanders or Trump, please cite or link to them here.

One bad apple CAN spoil the whole basket if you leave it there.
