Ginsburg may have become an icon, but that wasn't her design. And none of the women I've seen mourning her death appear to have been indulging in some kind of naïve heroine worship. Ginsburg made a difference in their lives, and there seems to be no one to replace her--not from the liberals nor the further left.

The right is not winning because they're treating liberals as "enemies to be crushed and defeated." They are winning because the left has not figured out how to parlay compassion into strength. We will only lose more points by acting like conservatives, because we'll be seen not just as jerks but as impostors and cowards.
