The original Magnificent Ambersons in my head is a masterpiece. The one I've seen--more of a meh. This isn't a bribe, but a recommendation: the un-reconstructed version (fragments) of Bezhin Meadow (if you haven't seen it) can be life-changing.
An overlooked classic of Soviet cinema.
