Five Modern Handwashing Songs
When you’re tired of “Happy Birthday” (and who isn’t?)
PROBLEM
“Just sing the Happy Birthday song twice while washing your hands.” — the experts
Ten hand washings / day x 2 rounds of “Happy Birthday” per wash (20 seconds) = BOREDOM.
If you’re like me, you’ve started accelerating the now-hated Birthday song to 78 rpm (ask a Boomer). That means you’re not spending enough time at the sink.
“Happy Birthday” is the best these “experts” could come up with? Fortunately, there’s a better way.
SOLUTION
Five modern (okay, mostly from the classic era — it’s the music I know best) song snippets that you won’t get bored with singing (for a few days at least). Each segment lasts at least a little more than 20 seconds. Different moods and genres help minimize the monotony. You might time your performance to make sure you’re not speeding the melody up too much (but you’re not likely to with gems like these).
In case you missed any of these classics, I’ve provided a YouTube video for each song.
