First time I heard Pyromania: about an hour ago (I pretty much stopped listening to new artists around 1980--for no good reason). What a powerhouse of an album. Much more disciplined (in a good way) than I had thought. The guitar solos, e.g., are fiery but also tactful.

They reminded me a lot of the Kinks--Ray Davies' gift with song structure and Dave Davies' vocals and guitar work. Naturally, their cover of "Waterloo Sunset" is perfect.

I can't imagine hearing this album at the time as a young person--let alone as an 8 year old.

I never owned any Cerwin-Vegas (just heard them in a showroom once). They were famous for their voluminous bass. Even though they had great power handling, I imagine quite a few got blown out.
