Fine films (I still haven't seen Up--blush emoji). There's a Mexican film that (in my view) far outshines Thelma and Louise: "Cumbres." The two protagonists are sisters. The younger (and more naive but technically old enough to drive a car) sister is charged with getting her older sister out of town (for a reason that's revealed somewhat late). It's a story about naivete and innocence, and the difficulty of adjusting to the realities of the "adult" world.

A more obvious (but less satisfying) choice: Harriet the Spy.
