Chris Bouchillon (who is white) is often credited with inventing "talking blues" in the 1920's (which influenced Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan), and in the song "Talking Blues" adopts a black persona and refers to "white folks." It's likely (I don't have any direct evidence) that he was inspired by black music (blues).
