Breaking news is that the WGA has reached a deal with the AMPTP.

I don't want to sound cynical--this agreement signifies a major victory for the WGA (and SAG AFTRA) in sticking to their guns.

But as I understand the terms, the settlement doesn't in most cases mean that writers will be BETTER rewarded for their work, just that the present status quo will continue (e.g. writers room size or that writers will probably not be replaced by an algorithm). The deal is still a major breakthrough in that the resolve of the guild and their supporters has prevented the producers and streamers from squeezing MORE blood out of the turnip. But in contrast to previous compromises (e.g. 2017 strike and earlier) this contract will maintain the ability of writers to work for fair compensation. They'll have to work smart, but that has always been the case.

I think the posts on Medium from you, Scott, and other writers, and the PR from the guild organizers and members has put the pressure on the prodcos to consider playing fair, even though they would prefer to do otherwise.
